Built for Texas heat, not just Texas winters
North Texas attics can get far hotter than the outdoor high in July and August. In most homes the ductwork and air handler sit right in that heat. Traditional insulation on the attic floor slows it down — spray foam on the roofline keeps it out.
- Seals air leaks batts and blown-in insulation miss
- Keeps attics and upstairs rooms closer to the thermostat
- Takes strain off your AC during long summers
- Quieter rooms with less dust and pollen
Which spray foam is right for your building?
Most homes use open-cell in the attic. Metal buildings and crawl spaces need closed-cell. Many projects use both.
| Feature | Open-cell foam | Closed-cell foam |
|---|---|---|
| R-value per inch | About R-3.5 to R-3.8 | About R-6 to R-7 |
| Density | Light, soft and spongy (~0.5 lb/ft³) | Dense and rigid (~2 lb/ft³) |
| Moisture | Lets vapor pass; not for wet areas | Acts as a vapor barrier |
| Sound | Excellent at dampening noise | Good |
| Structure | No added strength | Adds racking strength to walls |
| Best for | Attics, rooflines, interior walls | Metal buildings, crawl spaces, exterior walls |
| Relative cost | Lower per square foot | Higher per square foot |
Typical manufacturer ranges; exact values depend on the product used.
Barndos, shops and pole barns — insulated the right way
Metal buildings heat up fast and sweat when humid air hits the panels. Closed-cell spray foam bonds to the steel, stops condensation and keeps the space comfortable — whether it is your home, your shop or your hay barn.

How much does spray foam insulation cost in North Texas?
Most local contractors price spray foam by the board foot (one square foot, one inch thick). Published DFW ranges run roughly $0.45–$0.75 for open-cell and $1.00–$1.75 for closed-cell. Your price depends on the area, foam type, thickness and access — our cost guide walks through it, and the estimate is free.
Is spray foam worth it in Texas heat?
In most homes, yes. Sealing the roofline brings the attic close to indoor temperature, so ducts and the AC unit up there are no longer working in a 130°F+ space. Homeowners typically notice steadier temperatures, fewer drafts and lower summer bills.
Open-cell or closed-cell — which do I need?
Open-cell is the usual choice for attics, rooflines and interior walls in homes. Closed-cell is better for metal buildings, crawl spaces and anywhere moisture or condensation is a concern. Many projects use both. See open-cell vs. closed-cell.
How long does installation take?
Most attics and average-size homes are finished in one to two days. Larger shops, barndominiums and commercial buildings are scheduled around the size of the job — your estimate will include a timeline.
Do I need to leave the house?
Plan to be out during spraying and for a period afterward while the foam cures and the space is ventilated. We will give you the specific re-entry time for the product we use on your job.
